Petit Jean

It's amazing what you can find in your backyard...well not literally your backyard but within a few hours drive. We hitched up the camper last week and headed south to Petit Jean State Park in Arkansas. Rumor has it this park was considered to be our second national park but wasn't large enough. It's easy to see why it was in the running though, what an awesome place! This is my daughter Amanda at Cedar Falls.

Watoto Children's Ministry

Wednesday, February 27, 2008

The picture above is one of my favorites. I snapped it in 2004 on a warm July day in Kampala, Africa. Our mission team was out enjoying one of our "days off" from the build site. We were visiting a tomb which held the remains of the Buganda Kings of Kasubi, now designated a UNESCO world heritage site. Sounded pretty impressive. The real treat were these children who came to the parking lot as we were leaving. They were hoping for some candy or "sweeties" and did not go away disappointed.

You can also see it here. Compassion chose to feature it on their "share your heart" page. I urge you to check out the rest of their website while you are there - they are doing some pretty amazing things to fight poverty, not only in Uganda but all over the world.
